Having problems with your 1999 Volkswagen Jetta ?

We have a new style VW Jetta (1999) .. need to locate the speed sensor. Check engine light is on again after sensor was replaced by mechanic. Car would /will not shift into high gear and chk eng light is back on. Don't know if mechanic actually replaced the sensor. Now says it may be an internal problem. I'm thinking it may have been a loose or bad connection that is 'acting up' again or if it was replaced then this one is bad also. Don't see the logic in mechanic saying now that it may be in

Answers :

What you say sounds right, but good be internal, the first thing is to check the wiring to sensor and also a defective part is not an uncommon thing, the speed sensor is located on the rear of the trany, near the axle housing, i would check the connection and then test sensor or replace it
