Having problems with your 1999 Volkswagen Jetta ?
We have a new style VW Jetta (1999) .. need to locate the speed sensor. Check engine light is on again after sensor was replaced by mechanic. Car would /will not shift into high gear and chk eng light is back on. Don't know if mechanic actually replaced the sensor. Now says it may be an internal problem.
I'm thinking it may have been a loose or bad connection that is 'acting up' again or if it was replaced then this one is bad also. Don't see the logic in mechanic saying now that it may be in
What you say sounds right, but good be internal, the first thing is to check the wiring to sensor and also a defective part is not an uncommon thing, the speed sensor is located on the rear of the trany, near the axle housing, i would check the connection and then test sensor or replace it

O2 Sensors I have a 1996 tacoma and the engine light came on. I took it to auto zone and they hooked it to the computer and said I had a bad oxygen sensor.(bank 1 Sensor 2) I bought the sensor and replaced it, then I removed the positive cable from the battery to reset the code.(I was told this is how to reset the computer) The next day the light comes on again. Is it possible that another sensor is bad? I was told that the computers may not be that accurate ( they could read a sensor was bad bu

The mechanic read o2 sensors are bad - he replaced both - engine light came back on reading engine light again - tech erased the code again and again the light came on. The mechanic told my son he hates to work on Fords and directed him to Ford dealership which will most likly tell him to replace the OBC. Is this costly or can I replace myself with a used OBC?

The BCM on my '96 Laredo keeps showing three "errors"; bad tail lights, tailgate window open and bad coolant sensor. The tail lights work. The latch on the tailgate is new. I haven't confirmed whether the coolant sensor is truly bad or not. I'm guessing the computer may be bad. How do I check it? and if it is bad can I replace it myself or will that cause trouble with the ECM and PCM?

2002 g/a bought used. About 2 years ago (about 50K miles) started surging hesitating. Mechanic replaced intake manifold gasket...a few months later started doing same thing again. My 2002 Lancer's check engine light keeps coming on. I have replaced the catalytic converter with a rebuilt and one of the O2 sensors has been replaced. My mechanic wants to try replacing the other O2 sensor ($170) and says that if that doesn't solve it we may have to put a factory catalytic converter in which would be big dollars. Any ideas?

My 2008 Cobalt svc tire monitor light came on and it wont go away. there is nothing wrong with the LR tire. but it wont let me see the tire pressure i checked the psi in it and its perfectly fine and hasnt gone down at all. its been a week or so. is it possible the sensor is just bad? but if so can i just turn of the svc tire monitor light off? because i dont have the money to get the sensor replaced.
Unfortunaltly you can't turn the light off unless the repair is made. It is a safety feature. And yes, the little monitor inside the rim has gone bad or cracked. These are easily replaced by a tire technision, but the cost of the (TPMS)tire moniter ... 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt
I was driving and my battery gauge was up to 19, a mechanic said the alternator was overcharging, so had that fixed and put in new battery, then it ran fine except when i turned anything on heater and light the gauge would go down to 11 and the lights would dim, replaced the serpintine belt and ran ok, but now when i warm it up in the morning or at stop sign it dont want to stay running and kinda putters, but if i am going down the road it is fine, codes came up for 02 sensors replaced both of t

After service engine soon warning, diagnostics performed and then all o2 sensors were replaced. Service engine light came back on and diagnostics keeps saying 2 o2 sensors are bad, but they test 100%. Mechanics cannot find problem and warning back on again. The truck seems to be running fine otherwise, at 66,000 miles. The recommended 60,000 mile service was all done, including cab filter and all other filters replacement. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi\015\012\015\012Thanks for using FixYa. If all the o2 sensors were replaced but still the diagnostics says that 2 o2 sensors are bad then I believe they are either not placed properly or have gone bad again. You need to take it back to ... 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe
I have a 2006 Nissan Maxima and it is causing me problems. Check Engine light came on about three months ago but drove fine. No loss of mileage or anything. Did not pass smog do to a P2A00 code (O2 sensor is what i'm told). Had it replaced but light still came on with same code. Left mechanic to run errands and the car would not acelerate. Was runnig but would not acelerate in reverse and drive. It finally died. After replacing battery for and a second experience, was told the alternator was bad

Well its a 97 maxima SE, 168,000. It has had a problem just lately again dying. When you back up in reverse. It dies. While at stop light just dies. Not all the time. It has been known to just die while car is driving in traffic. Yet it doent always do this. mechanics have tried to pin point this issue yet no defintive cure. No check service light comes on. I think it may be altenator or fuel pump but I dont really know. Maybe 02 sensor. May need new spark plugs. Nothing really has been done to
I would check for a loose connection running to the fuel pump as the first thing or maybe just replace the pump to start as it may be getting weak with age. Very strange that you aren't getting any codes. I doubt it is the alternator since it dies wh ... 1997 Nissan Maxima
Crankshaft Sensor Hi Everyone, My car has never given me problems, but now the check engine light is on. My fiance hooked up his scanner (he is an a.tech at a subaru dlrship) to my car, and it read 'crankshaft sensor'. He erased the code, but it came right back after one day of driving around. Obviously, the crankshaft sensor is bad. Heres the question, does anyone know how easily it can be replaced? He is a mechanic, so i would much rather have him do it for me to save on costs. My engine check light is always on. I took it to Toyota, and they said I needed a new Oxygen sensor, which is an expensive replacement. I am an acquaintance with one of the mechanics there, and he said that it was just a screw-on-gas-cap problem. He said to turn it so that it clicks about five to 10 times, and within a while, the light will go out. That may be, but, the engine check light is an important indicator for other things. Any ideas on gas-cap idea?

Ok, If you have 2- 02 sensors, the front sensor does the primary fuel adjusments and the second one basically monitors the cat conv efficiency and trips the light. So the front, or #1 02 sensor shoul be changed also. E-proms to me are. "I don't k ... 1993 Buick LeSabre

I have a Ford Escape XLT, 6 cylinder, 2002 model, and this warning light comes on, on the dash. The problem is, that it only comes on intermittedly after the car has been started, but once it's on, it says on for a long period of time. I have been advised by a mechanic that the Oxygen Sensors could need to be replaced, and apparently in this model of car there are two of these sensors. Do you agree with this, or do you think it may be something else? The car has done over 200,000 kms.
Hello! No, I disagree...The warning light is the Check Engine Light (CEL)...When it comes on it is the computer telling you that a trouble code/codes have been stored...There is a lengthy list of codes...Take the vehicle to an auto parts store and ha ... Ford Escape
Good morning.. Firstly it started with pinging on acceleration, power loss and random misfires. My friends a mechanic and he scanned the vehicle finding that bank 2 sensor 1 was acting up on the reading. I have not yet replaced the sensor and the past few days problem has increased. Just this morning upon starting the vehicle same problem, then the vehicle stopped running so badly, service engine light lit and idle increased to 1500 in the parked position.
Replace your O2 Sensors (both of them). The misreading is telling the computer to increase fuel output causing the vehicle to run "rich". In turn causing all ofthe symptoms descibed above. ... 1997 Pontiac Firebird
Hello, I need some help. I have a 1996 Honda Civic ex (automatic) D16y8 VTEC engine. Today I had a mechanic replace distributor with a new one (not rebuilt) from an auto parts store. The mechanic did not set ignition timing after replacing. When I went to pick up the car I test drove it. The car looses power when driving. It also shifts at high rpms. Also, a check engine light came on for a knock sensor code. The mechanic replaced the knock sensor, and I drove it again. The check engine light
