The idle is controlled by the on board computer and other modules. Since you disconnected the battery, your computer needs time to reset to your modules operating parameters. After 5 miles or so of driving you should begin to see things stabilize the way they were - after 50 miles if you are still experiencing problems, you may need to look deeper for a solution. On my Camry, the idle drops below 500 RPM after removing the battery leads and one would expect problems, but give it a little time to stabilize before you go out and buy anything or pay for service.
You cars ecu lost all memory (idle setting, ect) when it lost power. (battery removed). It reverted to its initial programming for idle and your idle air control valve is dirty and sticking so the ecu can't adjust it,. Alot of times they will come back on their own and stick at a ok idle setting but a good throttle body and IAC cleaning is in order.
If you still have trouble after a good cleaning you will need to replace the IAC valve.
