Having problems with your 2005 Chevrolet Aveo ?
I have a 2005 Chevrolet Aveo and the check engine light came on and stayed on. We had it check and the code said that it was the gas cap. We replaced the gas cap but the light never went off. Then the hold light came on and the two started flashing on and off. Once the lights started flashing the car lost power and did not want to excell going up hill. The code the car is putting out is P0300. Where do I start to look to figure out what is going on with the car? The car has never had any problem
PO300 This code refers to a random misfire, this indicates an ignition issue. Random intermittent ignition failures are fairly difficult to diagnose, the first thing I would do is remove the spark plugs and inspect them, if they all have an appearance of a light brown or tan in color chances are they are ok, if one or two are black that will indicate the wire and spark plug and coil for that cylinder need replacement you may want to just replace the spark plug on all first and then go from there, it is the least expensive. It may be and ignition control module if all the sparkplugs are all in bad shape or black in color. The other possibility is that the purge canister for the gas tank which is related to venting the gas tank and reburning gas tank vapors is clogged or malfunctioning causing fuel delivery issues, this may be why changing the gas cap did nothing to solve the problem, the purge canister and gas cap are directly related to one another.
