Having problems with your Volkswagen Golf ?

I Have a 2004 Polo Classic 1.6 Petrol. The EPC light came on on the dashboard and the brake lights stopped working. I replaced the brake light switch and the problem still there, I disconnected and reconnected the battery - the problem still there. After about 2 hours with car switched of and keys removed the brake lights came on by itself and will not switch off - any body knows what might be wrong???

Answers :

The EPC (electronic powertrain control) system deals solely with monitoring the electronic accelerator pedal and moving the throttle body to match positions. Most likely, there is a problem with the accelerator pedal. However this does not explain the brake light situation......sometimes it is due to aftermarket electrical modifications that are added that interfere with the factory wiring and ecu......i would be looking in that dirrection
