If the battery is good, and has lots of power then the problem is most often the starter. If you can see the starter from the top, try hitting it firmly but not to aggresively with a hard long broom handle or some other long bar, while a partner tried to start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts then dont shut it off till you get the vehicle to a mechanic, or gets the parts to replace the starter yourself. This trick doesnt work everytime, and when it does usually once only... If you are unsure as to whether the battery is the culprit, try a jumpstart before going onto the hitting of the starter...
Clicking noise when you turn the key? Sounds like the solenoid for the starting system. I know they are mounted on the wheel well on earlier fords but not sure exactly where. Follow the 1/2 in starter wire from starter up. Should go to solenoid. There should be three wires to the solenoid. Battery, starter, and switch power. Maybe there's another not sure. But I'm sure that's your problem, not sure on cost of new solenoid.
