Having problems with your 1983 Oldsmobile Toronado ?
1978 toronado distributor
\015 I have a 1978 oldsmobile toronado distributor that has a round plug with three wires that attaches to it's similar other plug (male of female) that also has three wires no ti that is also in it's own harness wrap that goes thru the firewall to the computer under the dash.I just bought this car a few weeks ago and noticed that the brown wire has been cut just behind the plug that attaches to the matching plug from the distributor. Do you know what the brown wir is for and why would someone cut it? I do know that to do a ohm test that I read in a dealer shop manual this wire is part of a trouble shooting process. The computer does have a name give to it by General Motors--MISAR.Thanks Vic\015
It has been along time but I think that is the wire you ground to check the base ignition timing, pretty sure of this.\015\012FixYa.com claims they have factory repair manuals, they have nothing of the sort, this is not to say some experts may have manuals, we do, but we work from home and in most cases have a small library. Experts are not employed by FixYa.com, we help free of charge as much as we can with the general automotive knowledge we have learned while working as auto technicians, specific test values, repair procedures and illustrations are unique to each car line, these are not in most cases available to us. Thanks for using FixYa!
