Having problems with your 1984 Ford F 150 ?

Motor begins to die down going uphill and doesn't go faster than 40-45.

\015 As I go uphill engine seems to lose power. Also, I can't go faster than 40 or 45 mph. Not really sure how fast since the odemeter doesn't work. But I do know that I cause a long line to start up behind me when i'm on the road of people waiting to pass. Also, it seems like there is air being realeased from somewhere. When I shut off the vehicle, i continue to hear the air release for a few seconds before it stops. If you can help please call me at 2108314042. thanks. \015\012\015\012Luis\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 28-09-2020

Answers :

Luis ,sounds like a clogged catalytic converter to me. does it sound like a giant vacuum cleaner? or a jet? you have a clogged converter. check for engine misfiring as this is usually the cause of the bad converter and will not help your power problem.
