Car won't go over 40 mph

\015 I have 1985 Chevy Monte Carlo, which has some mild slippage in the transmission, but recently I've changed the water pump and after I've changed the water pump the car won't go over 40 mph and is giving off a gasy odor\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 19-08-2019

Answers :

Check your choke,it may be stuck shut causing it to flood and lose performance.check operation of choke after startup making sure it opens completly after a couple of minutes
Does it run rough at idle or the same as before water pump?
