1985 Dodge Ramcharger fuel gauge not working

The problem most likely is not the gauge itself. It could be faulty wiring between the gauge & sending unit, or most likely a bad sending unit in the tank. Visit Ramchargercentral.com, do a thread search on fuel gauge issues, and you'll find a ton of info. This is common on ramchargers mine says 3/4 full when its full 1987, they have like 30 to 35 gallon fuel tanks and that amount of gas splashing around when your off road beats the hell out of the float and sending unit in the tank , they should of made a baffle in the tank , its proberly not the gauge on my 86 i took the unit out of the tank and moved the arn up and down a it work fine the gauge went from empty to full but i had to bend the float arm down to get it dialed in while in the gas
