Having problems with your 1985 GMC S-15 ?

What causes Valve Cover Leaks

\015 I have a 1985 GMC S-15 Sierra Classic with a V-6 2.8 Carbuerated engine. After changing the valve cover gaskets 2 time I continue to get oil leaks from the valve covers. Can you help me? Thanks\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 18-06-2018

Answers :

First how much sludge build up was there they are known for build up in the heads and under the intake if that is ok the next common place to leak and it goes down the side is the oring on the distributor also the ends of the intake then over that length of time i sure they have been done before the covers are most likely bent instead of using a gasket clean both sides with brake part cleaner hammer the cover as flat as you can and use the silver/gray rtv and allow it to sit over night before starting
