1985 Mercedes 190E auto tranny swap - wont go into gear

\015 I have a 1985 Mercedes 190E auto that the transmission went bad on. I found a parts car, and was assured the transmission was good in it. I have completed the swap, both torque converter and transmission from the parts car, but now I can not get it to go into gear. I fill it with fluid, let it run till warm, put it in gear, and nothing. I have had it out and back in 4 times now, and can not figure out what I'm doing wrong. Is there a trick that I don't know about? Some special way that the torque converter has to fit in the tranny? I have made sure each time that the torque converter seats in the tranny correctly. I don't get it.\015\012\015\012Before I did the swap the old transmission would shift, but would slip once the car was warm. I even tried putting the old transmission back in the car, and not it doesn't shift either. I'm tired of laying on my back under this car. Any suggestions?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-09-2021
