Having problems with your 1985 Toyota Pickup ?

Hydraulic clutch grinding from 1st to 2nd - Toyota 1985 Pickup

\015 When depressing the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and switching from 1st to 2nd there's a terrible grinding sound. It's difficult to engage into 2nd (you really have to place it just right, which isn't easy). It doesn't happen every time, but at least 20% of the time it grinds. It's a 4-speed hydraulic clutch. Debating replacing the clutch or just adjusting... Mechanic recommends a replacement, though I'm not totally sure.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 09-12-2019

Answers :

Yes, your clutch might be worn and/or out of adjustment or the trans is worn. Your clutch may be fine also. Toyota's have a problem with there shifter bushings and seats. They brake and crack also causing shifting problems. And some times only one gear depending on the condition. If yours is broken, crack or damaged, you can find the parts from Toyota and there a whole lot cheaper than a clutch. Also I recommend adjusting the clutch if possible. Not all are adjustable. Check your clutch fluid.
