Having problems with your 1986 Ford Ranger 2WD ?
Wasn't getting juice to fuel pump ran a wire to fuse box wire is heating up but it worked fine for about a year pulled pump found the short and replaced wire new wire is heating up also. could i need heavier wire or find the fuel pump relay location
Afellow ranger owener Ihave an 85 that iv,e had for 23 years but it has a mechical pump but i also have the factory manaul that covers the electric pump. According to the wireing diagramstarting at the fuel pump relay and working backto the pumps there are two pumps in this systen one is in the tank and a high pressure inline pump mounted to the frame rail. OK 37 yellow powers the relay from ignition switch comes out of relay as 787 PK/BK -H goes to a switch called a inertia switch and says opens at impact so i would think it brakes the currciut in a crash it has connection on bolth sides and is 37 Ythen turns back to 787 PK/BK -H Then goes to the in line pump witch is grounded by 57 BK 787 splits and runs to in tank pump this wire 787 PK/BK -H between the two pumps is sopposed to be a 1000 OMHS resistor wire goes through the motor witch grounds 57 BK and 29 Y/W come from the sending unit in tank and feed fuel gage
