Having problems with your 1987 Chevrolet R30 ?

I have a 1987 chevy r30 with a 350 engine i just had the heads done. i got it together but it wont run right, teh engine turns over around 5-8 times till it fires, it idles ok, but when you try to rev it up it starts missing and backfiring threw the carb, after it warms up, when you try to start it, it turns over very slow.

It sounds to me like your timing is off, try rotating your distributor a few degrees in each direction and see if that helps.
Your timing is ff pluu the harmonic balncer and set the timing marks to line up the crank points to 12 oclcok and the cam points to 6 o clock then be sure the distributor in dead on #1 cylinder then put back together and set the timing. 6% Before TDC I belive.
