Having problems with your 1987 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup ?

Engine replacement Is it possible to drop the engine from a 1989 Chevy S10 4.3 into a 1987 Chevy S10 2.8 engine compartment. Would the transmission match up to bolt up to the engine? Have both vehicles. The 87 body is great with a weak engine. The 89 body is shot with a great motor. Thank you.

Answers :

You will ned the trans from the 89 as the 2.8 uses a different bellhousing because it was a transverse mounted engine in gm front drive cars whereas the 4.3 uses the bolt pattern from chevy full size vehicles. 60 degree vs 90 degree bellhousiing
The best publication out is printed especially for this its the HOLLANDERS INTERCHANGE BOOK this is the bood and program wrecking yards use to know which parts fit which cars and for how many years.
