Having problems with your 1987 Ford F 250 ?
I have a 1987 Ford F 250. The ignition is really hard to turn over. It will start and run fine if I have the strength to turn it over. Why???
Answers :
This is due to a bad ingition switch on the column or the igniton cylinder lock, you will need to remove the lock and see if it spins freely off the linkage for the switch ,90% of the time its the key cylinder, some off these fords are easy to replace the lock and remove it, there a small hole at the bottom of the column where the lock sits, if you look under the lock there should be a small holel insert a pick into the hole and push lightly then turn key slowly you will feel pic go in this is releaseing the lock tab then the lock will slide out, hold in hand and see if it turns freely if not replace it. hope this helps. just did a little research and this applies only to tilt wheel, if you dont have tilt then steering wheel and the plate must be removed here a diagram to show you the pin for a truck without tilt.
