Having problems with your 1987 Toyota 4Runner ?

My 87 4runner i just bought is not shifting right. It sometimes wont shift out of first till 4300rpm then when it warms up it will shift too soon at 2000rpm through 1st and second and take forever to accelerate.

Have you checked the level of your transmision oil? It sounds like it is low. If it is low obviously fill it to the full line. If it is full it sounds like your pump or clutch could be going bad and not building enough pressure. If that is the case you may need a trans rebuild. One thing I always try first is draining the trans oil. You do have a drain plug on this vehicle. Buy One bottle of lucas transmision oil additive and two quarts of trans oil. Fill until level is full hopefully this helps you out.
