Having problems with your 1988 Chevrolet G20 ?

Fuel pump problem

\015 Turn the key on.. the fuel pump turns on . start the engine and it will run for about a minute the die.. the fuel pump turns itslef off and doesnt turn back on.. i have replaced the pump,fuel filter, the relay, and the ecm(brain).. ive dropped the tank and unhooked the lines put a hose to a gas can and i get fuel but it shuts itself off with no pressure built up shouldn`t the pump stay runnig?? im lost pulling my hair out please help.. thanks\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 23-11-2020

Watch your oil pressure gauge if you have one, they also come into play on some GM fuel systems. If oil pressure drops too low, or oil switch faulty, telling it that it's too low, it will shut down fuel pump also. (similar to a trip switch for accident, engine stalls, oil pressure drops & signals pump to shut off.)
Hello I'm not saying this is going to solve your problem but:::I have had about 10 fuel pumps over 20 years of being in the trade work like that and work for a day and die! be sure it is not manufacture defective!!!! manually test it! good luck! hope this helps!
