Having problems with your 1988 Ford Ranger ?

I have a 1988 Ford Ranger with a 2.lL FI engine. The Tachometer does not work. Have replaced instrument pannell cluster two times and it does not help. Can you tell me how to fix or what to do next. Thanks Larry

Answers :

If you have changed the rev counter and its still the same then its a fault with the scrapyard parts as they were all defective which is a high possibility as rev coiunters do not work forever so take it out again and use a multimeter on the printed circuit board connection block to see its being feed with power ,if it has power then its the scrappy parts were no good to start with ,if no power to the circuit board then its the wire on teh other end where it connects to the ignition module but this connection rarely goes down but it can happen so if it has then run a new wire from the wire on the coil where its fed from the module and then it should work .But i still think that the problem lies in use of second hand parts from the scrapyard if this is what you have used but it will not hurt to check the feed wires on the back of the speedo for the rev counter
