Having problems with your 1988 Jeep Cherokee ?
1997 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 straight 6 4.0 with grinding, slash wheel wobbling sound only out of driver front, i have changed brake pads, caliper, rooter, and replaced the rubber grommit on the tie rod ends and re packed the grease turns better but still acts like the wheel is fallin off and it only does it when going 10,25mph, if i flore it then high speeds is ok
Sounds like your bearing. A new hub assembly is about $125 with the bearing already pressed in. Could be alignment problem too, especially if you have a lift. Also check to see if maybe you lost a weight.
Jack up the jeep and spin the wheel by hand, does it rotate smoothly? Grab the tire at top and bottom (while off the ground) and try to pull the top of the tire out while you push the bottom of the tire in. Have someone watch to see if the the tire is moving in and out, it shouldn't. Also grab front of tire at middle, and back of tire at middle and try to move in and out. You should not see any movement. If you do, your wheel bearings may be shot, also check your axle U-joint to see if it's shot. Good Luck! Countrycurt0
