Having problems with your 1989 Ford Bronco ?

Just replaced the rear main oil seal on 1989 F150. Now that EO4D transmission has been re-installed, it will not shift gears. Do not remember disconnecting any electrical connections, just pulled the speed cable. Can too much fluid cause it not to shift? Fluid level now appears to be above the full mark on the dipstick. Leery about pulling out fluid in case the torque convertor has not re-filled completely.

Has the torque converter dropped into it's position in the transmission fully when you reinstalled the transmission?
