Having problems with your 1989 Ford Thunderbird ?

1989 Thunderbird won't start.

\015 The car will start and run when I hold the ignition in a slight start position after it is running, but not to the point of engaging the starter. I can hear the fuel pump when I do this, but when I let go of the key, the fuel pump stops and the car stalls. Wondering if possible faulty relay or ignition problem? Could it involve the EEC?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 10-08-2020

Answers :

Ignition switch is more likely. If it's consistently making contact in the same position every time, the relay sounds like its working. As far as the EEC, I honestly don't know for sure but it doesn't sound like it. All the best!
