Having problems with your 1989 Ford Thunderbird ?
1989 Thunderbird won't start.
\015 The car will start and run when I hold the ignition in a slight start position after it is running, but not to the point of engaging the starter. I can hear the fuel pump when I do this, but when I let go of the key, the fuel pump stops and the car stalls. Wondering if possible faulty relay or ignition problem? Could it involve the EEC?\015
Ignition switch is more likely. If it's consistently making contact in the same position every time, the relay sounds like its working. As far as the EEC, I honestly don't know for sure but it doesn't sound like it. All the best!
