Having problems with your 1989 Plymouth Reliant ?

Brake lights will not turn off after brake light switch replaced.

\015 My brake did not work so i replaced my brake light switch and now they will not turn off, i've been screwing around with the switch trying to push it closer and closer to the pedal but even pushed as far as it can go the lights stay on, although when im driving the car if i pull up on the brake pedal it will turn my lights out. Is it my pedal? or something to do with my pedal like a return spring some sort of device thats forces the pedal upward?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 27-09-2021

Answers :

There May be a RETURN Spring for the Padal, other than that The Switch MUST Be out of ADJUSTMENT Try Adjusting it the Other Direction its My Experience that the Further Away from pedal the Closer to ON the Switch is
\015\012On your Vehicle it May Be Different though But TRY IT Hope it Fixes the Problem
You say you adjust the switch closer and closer to the pedal. It needs to move away from the pedal. When the switch doesn't touch the pedal the lights will go off. That's what happens when you pull up on the pedal. Adjust it down until the lights go off.
