You may need a transmission fluid cooler.are you towing anything when it quits shifting? or starts slipping? if you are towing anything at all,i suggest you add the fluid cooler to the system.a very simple add on that you can purchase at autozone, advance auto, nappa, motor products.just about any auto parts stores nation wide can assist you with the transmission fluid cooler. if by chance that you're not towing anything and the transmission quits shifting gears automatically, but you can shift from 1st through 3rd by manually shifting gears with your shifter on the column by starting out in 1st and then 2nd,it shifts manually, then 3rd you shift it manually and it shifts fine and does'nt slip. you may have a bad modulator valve on the side of your transmission which is vacum operated, there may be a vacum line off,or the modulator valve may have went bad.thank you for choosing fixya.com
Hello and welcome to FixYa!

If you haven't replaced the transmission fluid recently then now is the time. If the fluid is burnt, the transmission tends to fail specially on hot temp. Please do check the transmission fluid first as a first course of action.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
