Having problems with your 1990 Ford F150 ?

The pulley on the power steering pump slides back and forth causing the fan belt to come off. Is ther supposed to be a bolt to hold the pulley tight?

Answers :

The bolts on the front of mounting bracket are loose they thread into the pump and hold it tight against the bracket. There is also an adjustment depending on what engine you have there will be a bolt or a stud with a nut on it on the top of the pump bracket this how the belt is adjusted you want about an inch of up and down play in the belt then tighten the bolts there around the pulley looking at it from the front i think there is 3 of them they will be in slots in the bracket so they can slide to remove the belt from the pump.
