Having problems with your 1990 Lexus LS 400 ?

Engine Temp indicates in acceptable range, but am unable to touch the engine, radiator area because it is so hot. I suspect the auxilary fans are not operating. Where should I look for a problem and a fix.

The engine operates at around 200-210 degrees when everything is normal. This would be way too hot to touch. Turn the A/C on and see if the fan is running. If it is then you know the fan is good. The fan will run continuously when then A/C is on. If after a few minutes the fan does not come on with the engine running at idle with the A/C off, then you may have a problem. Just start the engine, let it idle and see if the fan comes on. If not the thermal relay is bad. But you say the engine temp is acceptable and the engine is not overheating. So, I do not see that you have a problem at all.
