Having problems with your 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Conv ?

My 1990 cutlass supreme stalls when i accelerate. not all the time. i was told to change the e.c.m.

Thats kind of an extreme jump to solve what could just be a sensor problem. Have you had a scanner run on the motor to check for sensor response or trouble codes. Some are hard codes and some soft that do not turn on check engine light so try an auto parts store that will run scanner for free and get some more clues. Throttle positon sensor will do this as will other things. come back with more info if necessary by replying and will be happy to help and good luck
I would take a look at the EGR valve. It will cause hesitations and stalls. It is also a lot cheaper to change than the ECM. Always try the small stuff first. : ) You can go by Autozone or Advance Auto and ask them to put their computer on to your car...just to see if anything shows up. They will do it for free!
