Having problems with your 1990 Toyota 4Runner ?

I have a 1990 4runner with 214,000 on the motor. I have recently replaced the plugs, wires, cap, and rotar. When the truck is cold and not warmed up yet it stalls out on me. I start it and it idles high in the mornings which it has always done due to being cold and then I go to put it in gear and if im lucky it wont die but for the most part the idle drops to zero and then picks back up as it shutters. then if it stays at idle i can take off and drive but soon as i press the gas pedel the truck

Answers :

Probably the IAC, not usually the TPS, have you replaced the fuel filter? it could be a problem with the new wires, yes they may be new, but there is always a chance it is faulty, kind of sounds like a misfire. It could also be the spark plugs. or possibly you have them plugged the number 1 wire into the wrong spot on the distributor
