When my toyota is idling in gear there is a ratle that sounds like its coming from the engine. In park and neutral it seems to go away.

Answers :

Most likely it is an exhaust heat shield. block the wheels, set the parking brake and put it in gear so it makes the noise. now get out and go down the exhaust system and press against each shield to see if the noise goes away. when you find the culpret rip it off and you are done.
