Having problems with your 1991 Chevrolet C1500 ?

My girlfriend drove truck to the store, when she pulled up to the gaspump, she tried to restart the engine and nothing at all. Wont turn over, no clicking sound, We have power to everything, just nothing. Tried tapping on starter, and nothing. BAD STARTER??? Please help!!

Yes, it could be a bad starter, but, first check the battery cables and make sure that there is no corrosion and they're tight. Also, check the connections at the starter, there should be two connections. One goes to the battery and the other goes to the ignition switch.

Use a test light to verify power at the starter. There should always be power to the cable from the battery to the starter and the "smaller" wire should have power when the key is turned to the start position. Have an assistant turn the key to start while watching the test light.

As always be careful if you lift the truck, use jack stands and make sure the truck is in park or if you have a manual transmission in neutral.

Run a wire direct from battery to the small terminal on the starter motor solonoid ,if it still doesnt work or click then its either the earth cable from engine to the chassis or the starter motor .
