1991 Honda Accord engine cranking but not turning over

\015 Accord 2.2l w/156,000 miles, I bought the car 2 wks ago and first the battery light came on. When the light came on Kragen checked the battery & alternaor, said my battery was bad but the alternator was good. A male friend took the battery cable off while the car was started and the car shut off, he said my alternator was bad. 2 days later I was driving and the car just shut off & wouldn't even start with a long charged jump. I replaced the battery, then the spark plugs & discovered 3 of the old plugs (#2-4) had oil around them. Cleaned plug boots & put the water repellent stuff on the new plugs. Car still not starting. I stupidly took off the distributor thinking I just needed to replace it (now worried about the timing) and found a metal piece broke off the rotor, so I replaced the rotor and cap, still nothing. The car still makes the same noise like it wants to crank but it's not turning over. A male friend checked for sparks from the plug end near the distributor and said I wasn't getting any spark. I'm lost as to what to do next. Pls help!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 25-03-2019
