Having problems with your 1991 Honda Accord ?

I only have 2nd and 3rd gear in my 1991 honda accord lx

\015 I got this car for really cheap when I was in a bind, it ran fine but ever since I've had it I only have 2nd and 3rd gear (it's an automatic by the way). I'm not sure where to start on troubleshooting this problem so I'm just seeing if anyone has had this problem and can tell me how to fix it?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-10-2019

Sounds to me like the shift solenoids on the transmission are bad or need to be cleaned up. They are located on the outside of the transmission case, on the front, straight below where the distributor is. They are in pairs and bolted to the tranny by two or three #10 bolts. There are two pairs on the tranny. You can try cleaning the screens on them or worst case, you may have to replace them to get the tranny to shift normally again.
