Having problems with your 1992 Audi 100 ?

The engine oil pressure gauge on my daughter's 1992 Audi 100 is around 5, indicating that the oil pressure is very high. She also reports occasional warning sounds. I started it today, the gauge remains high, but no warning sounds. What is going on here?

If you put too much oil in an engine it will exert excessive pressure on the oil pump which can lead to pump failure and/or failure of engine seals. I am not very familiar with Audi/VW but the warning light could mean not enough or too much oil in the system. Start the car and let it run for about 15 to 20 seconds then turn it off and check the oil level. If the level is over the fill line you will need to drain some of the oil. As odd as it sounds it is better to have too little oil in the engine than too much. PLease rate me on this answer.
