Having problems with your 1992 Daihatsu Charade ?

Some kind of oil in coolant on a 94 Celica St

\015 I just bought a 94 Celica st w/ auto trans. has 117000mi. After we got it home we noticed that fluid in resevoir looked nasty, so opened the radiator cap, stuck my finger in there and it felt oily. Oil level was a little high, and it was noted on another receipt to be the same. It runs great, seems to run cool even. No smoke, no odor. I found records in the glove box, and in 07 the coil and head gasket were replaced. Could it be oil made its way into coolant with the bad gasket and radiator wasn't flushed? Or a bigger problem? Where do I start? Work was done at 90k\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-09-2021

Answers :

They had the head gasket replaced, when oil gets into the anti freeze its almost impossible to get it all out but a little oil won't hurt it. Its just ugly. To be sure the engine is fine, Do a compression test, the next is pressure test(see if there is a coolant leak and if so where is it going), and pull the oil drain plug for a second. If antifreeze is in the oil, it will settle at the bottom of the pan. Also sludge on the dip stick could be a sign of an issue.
