Having problems with your 1992 Dodge Dakota ?

Check engine light is on with a code 22 as long as the light is on the truck will not run. If the light is off it will run fine. I was told the 22 code is the coolant sensor but my temperature gauge is running fine. Is there anything else that can be causing this?

Hi,

This code is actually for ' Coolant sensor signal out of range '.

As per service manual - Code 22 = Coolant sensor \015\012voltage too low or too high. A possible fault with the coolant sensor \015\012and that can cause difficult starting and poor running.\015\012

Good Luck!!

Thanks!!
OBD Code 22 - Coolant Sensor Out of Range

You could have damaged the sensor or wiring; its the coolant sensor for the computer, the single wire sensor at the rear of the head is only for the inside gauge.

Disconnect the sensor wire connector and measure the resistance across \015\012the CTS. It should be in the thousands of ohms. If not them it is bad \015\012or the wire to it has become compromised.

Are you try to reset the ECU? Disconnected battery few minutes erase the stored codes. If check turn on again, the problem keep in there.
