Having problems with your 1992 Mitsubishi Galant ?

We are looking at buying a 1992 Mitsubishi Pajero 3.0l EFI. It is blowing out white smoke soon after start up suspected blown head gasket/s. How easy would it be to replace it and get timing right?

Answers :

It could be other things. White smoke = oil burning
Worn Rings for example?
A compression test would detect worn rings.

Try not to assume an easy fix before you buy it.
Make sure the price is right as white smoke = bad :)

Relative to other engines with the same size, the degree of difficulty is the same since most types of vehicles has the timing gear/chain facing the radiator. As long at you know where the timing lines line up and you should be good to go.
