Having problems with your 1992 Oldsmobile Ninety Eight Regency ?

Hello, I have a 1992 Oldsmobile 98 and still have not been able to find the problem with the automatic trunk pull down mechanism even after buying two new motors and trunk switches and going online to Fixya solutions. I checked the wiring according to the manual and all checks out ok. Please anyone with experience with GM trunk pull downs let me know. Thank you, Kevin

According to the schematic, the Black/Yellow wire goes from the Trunk Lid Latch Switch when it is latched to the Pull Down Unit. This could be related to your problem.
\015\012Also, the Pull Down Unit has different modes depending on whether the Striker is down or the Striker is extended. Also, whether the lid is open or if it is closed.
\015\012Normally, the Trunk Lid Latch Switch is Latched and the Striker is down.
\015\012I would try to run a new wire for the Black/Yellow wire from the Trunk Lid Latch Switch down to the Pull Down Unit to see if it works.
The only issues I've had with auto trunk pull down motors were that they weren't adjusted properly. Cadillacs and Camaros, were famous for them. The new motor assembly that is attached to the trunk latch, must be installed near the max upward travel of the latch mounting bolts. Meaning when the latch is installed, make sure the bolts are snug, but not tight at the most bottom position of the elongated slots. Then close the trunk until it engages the latch (it will appear high or not fully closed). If it latches, approximately one second later it should pull downward and stop (it has a maximum travel). If this at least works then, readjust the latch bolts slightly higher in the slots (keeping them even to engage the latch centered). You should eventually get it to where it latches and almost closes on the trunk seal, then the motor draws it downward to snuggly seal. I'm sorry, due to your question I'm not aware of what you have done or what exactly it is doing to not be working.
