Having problems with your 1993 Ford Crown Victoria ?

My brake light has started coming on? Does that mean that the brake fluid is low? The brakes are not making any noise and they seem to be stopping ok.

Probably. If flushing and replacing the fluid (not just topping off) doesn't help, then take it to a mechanic.
A little more back ground. as you brakes wear then more of the brake fluid will be found in the brake lines and wheel cylinders and less visable in the brake fluid reservor. Typically when the fluid is low in the brake fluid reservor the brake light on the instrument cluster will come on. Important for you to remember trhat other issues can also cause the brake light to light up but low fluid in the brake fluif reservor is probably the most comon cause. Add the proper type of brake fluid (check your owner's manual to identify the correct type) and fill the reservor until it is ablout half full. Now check and see if the light has gone out. One other thing to be aware of. When your brakes are replaced some of the fluid in the lines and wheeel cylinders will be pushed back into the brake fluif reservor and can over flow it if you don't watch for it. The reason you want to watch for this is that brake fluid makes a mess and can ruin/remove paint if allowed to sit on paint for a length of time.
