Having problems with your 1993 Geo Tracker ?

I have a 4X4 and when I lock the hubs and put it into 4 wheel drive it does not engage. Do you have suggestions of things to check before I take it to a mechanic?

From the GM Factory Service Manual "If hubs are not operating properly, \015\012clean sliding surfaces of hubs and lubricate each sliding surface with \015\012locking front hub lubricant GM P/N 1052750, or equivalent. If hubs \015\012still do not operate properly, they should be replaced."
\015\012Six Allen-head bolts, torqued to 24ft/lb, hold the locking hub assembly \015\012to the wheel hub. Maybe badly re-installed, maybe just clean and \015\012lubricate the sliding surfaces, maybe the hub assembly is bad. All that\015\012 can be said for sure is that your mechanic did not report a finding \015\012that the left one didn't turn after he bolted it back on. Somebody is \015\012going to have to remove that hub and look before you know exactly what \015\012the problem is.
