Having problems with your 1993 GMC Sierra ?

I just bought a 93 camara z28 was week and its jus been problems. there is a weird whining noise coming from one of the altenator pulleys. a buddy said the bearing is shot but the worst part is i was driving and had the cruise set at 55 and the car jerked and then the service engine soon light came on...help

If it's coming from the altenator it's most likelly the rear bearing. The bearing is pressed in the case and it gets very hot from the friction of the brushes. If you determine this is the problem I reccomend replacing the entire altenator, the bearing and labor to install it will be really close to a new one and you get a warranty depending on where you buy it. If the voltagfe is spiking in the altenator it could be affecting the cruise control, Fix the altenator first and than tackle the cruise if it's still inop.
