Having problems with your 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee ?

When the 93'(6cyl)jeep is in drive it won't move unless I give it a lot of gas but if I put it in reverse it moves by itself w/out me adding any gas. In drive mode it seems like I'm driving w/the break on, it takes too much gas for the car to get going. Could the car be stuck on overdrive? The overdrive OFF/Switch indicator lamp is not working & prior to this happening I had used the overdrive. When car is in motion there is no problem but the overdrive button no longer works, no change in shif

Answers :

It sounds like you have lost first gear in your transmission. I have a 93 Grand Cherokee and recently suffered the same problem. The problem is most likely in the transmission valve body. You should stop driving the vehicle immediately to prevent doing more damage to the rest of the transmission. Sounds like you will most likely need a rebuild
