Sounds normal, turning the key to run will actuate the starter relay in the engine fuse box, the check engine light will be on before the engine starts and should turn off around 5 seconds after starting once it has been able to finish its self test. unless you are actually having a starting problem but it doesn't say that in your question
Hello, If you get bad cell in the battery it can drain the system and overload the alternator output, the car is VERY sensitive to voltage. The clicking noise you hear is the starter solenoid not getting enough current.\015\012
\015\012Remove the battery, have it charged and TESTED on a battery tester, if it tests bad then replace it (the battery). Alternators usually do not fail unless contaminated by oil leaks or damged by aftermarket radios that require high current.
