Having problems with your 1993 Plymouth Grand Voyager ?

I just bought a 93 plymoth grand voy SE and have 3 small children. twice in past week i've been driving and all the sudden i have no gears. i have to pull over and shut off for a minute. When i turn it back on it works fine again. I know its the transaxel cause i read the manual. Is there a cheap way to fix this problem and what is most likely wrong?

Answers :

The very 1st thing u need to do is have the TCM (transmission control module) tested for fault codes, there should be a code for this problem stored in memory, until this test is run there is only very expensive testing, there is not going to be any cheap fix here, at the very least u have an electrical problem with the trans and that must be traced down, at worst the trans must be overhauled, these vans have a number of class action law suits against them for this and other related transmission failures. My experience? 40 years as a automotive technician, held ASE master mechanic status in all phases of auto repair for 20 years of that. Bottom line i am sure of what i am advising here.
