Having problems with your 1993 Pontiac Bonneville ?

I have a 1993 Pontiac Bonneville SE and need to know if the freon is R134 compatible or does it use R12?

Answers :

Pop your hood and look at a sticker in front of your radiator for the Capacity of Freon in pounds and/or ounces. There should be a sticker stating if it's R-134A or not. Insofar as R-12 and R-134 being compatible, NO! Not only are the properties different but they also use a different type of refrigerant (freon), oil. If mixed, it could destroy your compressor and send broken "vanes or valves" throughout your entire A/C system. If still unsure, call your local Dealership, but I'm pretty sure you take R-134A.
