Loose transmission cable? 1993 Volvo 240

\015 I pulled into a parking lot and put the shifter into park but the transmission did not respond and stayed in drive. The shifter is not stuck but does not actually shift the car into (or out of) gear. I have a feeling it is a loose cable. First of all am I correct in my assumption? Secondly, is this something I can get to easily? does the cable attach to the trans. exterior or interior? where is the cable located? if it separated in the shift console, is that easy to get to? any other info that would help my repair would be greatly appreciated.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 15-08-2022
