Answers :

Audi uses several styles of bolts on their cars, and for doing a timing belt, you're going to need a set of Torx bits to use with a ratchet. I bought my set from Advance Auto Parts for $17, and it's served me well in working on the Audi.

Best bet for you is to check out the website www.12v.org - it's dedicated to the pre-1998 12v V6 engine, and it has a tech area with detailed tech procedures, including the timing belt job. The procedure is written up for the A4, but the mechanicals of the engine are the same and the main difference would be the disassembly of the front of the car to get down to the engine. Still, that part should be pretty easy really - the cars are designed to come apart logically and without too much trouble. That site, plus the Torx bits, ratchets, screwdrivers, and wrenches, will get you through the job without trouble.
