Having problems with your 1995 Buick Regal ?

1999 Buick Regal LS. When Air Conditioning is on and it is in the eighties or warmer outside, the tachometer drops to zero (no check engine light) and the engine shuts off. I start instantly again when I turn the key. Won't start again unless AC is shut off. Car works perfectly without Air Conditioning on, or with Air Conditioning when temperatures are not as warm. AC coolant level was down, from three pounds to one-half. Had that fixed and problem recurred. Help, please. I don't speak car

Check for you idle compensator. This is the part of the car that tells the engine that the AC is on and needs to rev up more to prevent the drop of the revs but most like the the issue could be with your AC compressor. This may be cause of lack of lubrication, internal war and even too much refrigerant can cause it.

\015\012The air conditioning puts a heavy load on the engine when it engages. Because of the additional load, the engine idle speed has to be increased or it will stall. The way this is done is through a device called an "Idle Air Control Valve". It is basically a valve bolted to the intake manifold that regulates the engine idle speed and increases it when you turn the air conditioning on. It is not unusual for these IAC valves to get clogged with carbon deposits. When this happens the valve can't work to increase the idle and the car stalls because of the additional load of the air conditioner. You will have to get the IAC valve cleaned which is a pretty simple operation.
