1995 Z-28 thermostat problems
\015 Thanks for helping! \015\012 Im taking my car in not this week but next. Ive been in and out of town, ( not in my car) and this is the first chance ive had. \015\012 Next symptom, I turned the defroster on to cool the car, in case it was getting hot, the air is not hot, its regular temp. Meaning, the heater does not work, it will not heat, I tried it when I noticed the defroster doing its trick. Air conditioner works fine. I noticed at the end of winter, it was not heating up as fast, and my defroster was taking longer to clear my windshield. I think this is all related to the same problem. Temp. will go up, but the car is not hot, and it goes back down to normal upon acceleration in under 4 seconds. Another thing telling me its not hot. This is the 3rd camaro ive owned, never experienced this problem.\015
Another thing I noticed before was that there can be air pockets in the system. It is tedious but you have to get the engine hot and lossen each of the brass bleeder valves located on the hose to your thermostat housing and the smaller one to the throttle body. go back and forth a coulpe of times while the car is hot and running. Slowly open the valve with a screw driver and have a rag handy for coolant dripping (hot) you will see air bubbles come out. leave it open only for a 4 or 5 second count and then tighten it and try the other the same way. This really is important in these systems. Also some throttle body lines or your heater core etc. become plugged or corodid and don't properly allow the flow and proper air release to be performed. good luck friend!!
