95 ford transmission problems

\015 Ive been having some problems with my automatic transmission slipping or not even going into gear at all. I changed out the trans filter and it was fine for about 50miles. Now the same thing is happening all over. There was metal shavings in the drain pan. Any advice will be greatful. Also does it have a transmission fluid over flow tube?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-05-2018

The 1995 explorer has a pressure valve that can get clogged pretty easily is the truck slow to change from P to D or R to D if so i would change the valve i think its around $50 last time i bought one. \015\012
\015\012The metal shavings do not indicate anything good i'm afraid was there big pieces? alot of shavings or just a few?
Hi. I hate to say it, but if you have metal shavings in your drain pan you've got some major problems, especially if it slipping and not going into gear. The problem with not going into gear is usually the syncros being worn. I recommend taking the transmission to a transmission shop. They can look at it and some shops you can talk into just fixing the broken/damaged part instead of rebuilding the whole tranny. If you don't want to go that route you can look for a used one, but either way you will have to one or the other VERY soon if you want to keep on rolling.
