If this has been going on for over a year, and the cars not overheating, I would rule out head gaket(but not completly) have you replaced the radiator cap? It may not be holding the right preasure in order to lower the boiling point and also alowing the coolant to get to the overflow tank quicker, the cap also allows a vacum to be formed when it does cool down, pulling the coolant from the tank back to the radiator.
It sounds to me like you have a slight leak in your head gasket. Make sure the radiator cooling fan is coming on like it's supost and if it does then you probably have a leaky head gasket. Hope this helps..
